Neither of these are comparable price wise to the Top3000 as they both retail around $600 but if you wait for one to come up you can often find them used for around $350 (which is what I paid for each). However, I've since moved to an Xeltec SuperPro, it's not as nice as the ChipMax2 but it has a much larger list of compatible chips, which I needed for some obscure stuff I was working with. Not to mention I had a literal pile of chips that my GQ4 and Top3000 refused to program and the ChipMax2 wrote to them like they were brand new. It programs about twice as fast as my GQ did, has a much nicer socket, metal enclosure. Zero problems installing the software, because it's a legit professional grade product, everything is in English, from the software, to the official website, to the documentation, and it has real support, because it's a USA made product. Moving to the ChipMax2 was a breath of fresh air. Honestly, I got sick of wasting time with all the crappy Chinese programmers. I sent it to another AP member who had a confirmed good, working software setup and he couldn't get it to work either so we trashed it.Īfter the Top3000 I moved to an EETools ChipMax 2, which is a really fantastic programmer, arguably the nicest programmer with the nicest software I've ever used.

↳ ST 16MHz V1.Click to expand.Essentially my Top3000 was dead, it had programmed about a hand full of chips among dozens of failures before it simply refused to communicate over USB.↳ ST V1 16MHz BOOSTER (Discontinued 2015).↳ ST 16MHz V2.X SERIES BOOSTERS (Discontinued 2020).MacOS isn't without faults but compared to windoze the warts are not worth mentioning.
#Eetools chipmax2 software driver#
The built-in driver supports the essential functions of EETOOLS ChipMax2 USB hardware.

Worst case I'll just load Linux over the top of windoze or if it does meet my needs maybe a dual boot setup would be in order. EETOOLS ChipMax2 USB drivers are typically built-in (included with your Windows Operating System) and are also accessible through most Windows updates. I'm sure I'll be sorry but I did order a new I7 machine equipped with windows 10.
#Eetools chipmax2 software 32 bit#
I guess the 32 bit driver versions are becoming abandoned even though venders still claim 32 bit comparability as seen by EETools they stop working. I had pretty much found that if you dedicate a windoze machine to one or two diverse applications the garbage os would remain stable and not need constant care and feeding. There is is no end to windoze issues and having MS force broken updates on people is a new level arrogance.
#Eetools chipmax2 software install#
The more drivers you install on a windoze machine the issues you encounter go up dramatically. Ya, I despise windoze, always been a pain in the ass installing drivers and have them run consistently. Would rather use my 2007 imac than windows. I need a windows machine for work and have my own for use with things like the atmel, xilinx etc CPLD programmers. The only face saving nugget in this decision is I can dual boot Linux which makes the investment some what usefully. Guess MS forces updates on ya that have lost data or/and rendered these machine un-bootable. So being the windoze hater that I am I elected to buy a modern pc running windoze 10 which I understand is a supper piece of shit. Couldn't find the software I had originally installed on it that did work so it came down to paying money to MS or buying a new modern windows machine. I talked to EEtools and reading between the lines the 32 bit driver has been abandoned even thought they tout 32 bit capability. I'm a real PC hater and had a 12 year old PC with windows 7 32bit os just to run the programmer. Spent days on and off attempting to get the software to run on the windoze 7 machine that had previously ran and another xp windoze machine I pulled out of the shed with no success. I upgraded the software and low and behold broke it. Pulled a major boner the other day with it. Well I have to say I love the EEtools ChipMax2 burn it all burner. Also it doesn't echo keypresses so you should setup your terminal program to half duplex which is painful but its better than typing in the dark. The eprom emulator shows up as "STM32 Virtual ComPort" and when selected you should see a rotating "/". When it powers up you get a menu to select which device you want to talk to. You can set the "initial ROM" to 0-7 each being programmed as a different boot eprom. You should get your option menu to look like the example in the text file. I initially left it in the antistatic foam and played with the programming.

You can connect it to usb and it will be alive and let you play with the programming without the emulator being plugged into anything. So if it doesn't talk reverse the white and green wires.

If you look it up you can find the white and green both ways. Note that the black and red are ground and +5. Here is the setup for the eprom emulator, You need to take a usb cable and cut off one end.
